In an effort to innovate at the March 28, 2004 game between the New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils at the Meadowlands, which the Devils won 3-2, caught it was coined as an exclamation of excitement after one hockey player caught a flying puck in mid-air and let it go gently on the ice to facilitate continued game play.
